Small Business Social Media Basics - Three Tips

As a small business owner the thought of spending one more dime on your advertising budget probably sends shivers up your spine. You know you've got to do it but, especially today, cash is tight. One of the beautiful things about the web today is the ability to get free exposure on websites like Twitter, Facebook and more. It does not cost you a dime to create a Twitter account, put together a Facebook page or setup a Linked account. All it takes is a bit of time and a little know how.

When you start out looking to use some of these social media sites to advertise your business sit down and create a plan. You want to lay out three distinct points in this plan.

First determine, realistically, how much time you (or an employee) can dedicate to a social media campaign. Successfully building exposure, brand recognition and dedicated followers takes consistent effort over the long run. Just sitting down one night and plowing a few hours into creating accounts will get you nowhere. It is an hour a night? Maybe it's only a couple hours a week. Whatever it is decide what time you can afford to spend and dedicate yourself to actually putting that time in each and every week.

Secondly determine what your specific goal is. What do you want to get out of the time you invest in Twitter, Facebook and the others? Make it laser specific and not something as vague as "Make more sales." Especially when starting out pinpoint a definite goal that you can track and monitor. For example, say you've just started to carry a new line of product. Perhaps your social media goal is to increase the sale of said product over a certain period of time. Make it small, targeted and manageable. Now spend your time looking for, and connecting with, people on these social media sites that are interested in that product. As you build a base of followers you can interact with you'll notice they naturally start to explore more of your product line.

Lastly, and this is the hardest part, is you've got to do it. If you dedicate 1 hour a night then make darn sure you put that time in. Read and learn about how to become effective in the space. I'd wager that 9 out of 10 people that start on social media quit right before they start to see results. To borrow a massively overused saying - the online game is a marathon, not a sprint.

BEWARE OF FOREX ‘BO-BOT’ (BAD ROBOTS)!

Have you ever driven a car to the point you get to the sign that reads ‘Warning! Dangerous curve ahead!’? I bet you have seen one of such signs before. While observing Forex 'charts' during the course of a trade I came to realize one truth: a good robot will warn you of a dangerous curve ahead while a bad one will probably ignore the sign or not take a note of it at all. It is without doubt that Forex trading online is one of the most patronized businesses up till date and this have given rise to a boom in software sales.

Most of these software vendors make ambiguous claims of making well over 500 pips in a day which converts into thousands of Dollars depending on the amount being traded and the methods used. While some of the claims might be true most of it are false and misleading. I mean think of it, if a robot is that smart and it can generate that kind of results then why the hell will the owner sell it to thousands of other competitors out there who are competing for that quick cash online.

Another thing you should consider is that if the robots are designed to be so smart that they don't make you lose any money online then how does any one get to make money online? What I mean by that statement is that: every penny lost by you in a trade is a penny gained by someone else. So, before you go and spend that hard earned money to buy a robot that promises a cash flow of Dollars it will be wise of you to take note of the sign that reads: dangerous curve ahead.

Beware of the 'bo-bots' (bad robots) that promise to make you so rich over night even while you are away from your computer— they are all bobo (bad advice or lies)! First take time out to thoroughly research a robot before you shell out all that hard earned money for it. Here is how to begin your research—go to Google and type the words: Forex robot scam or fake Forex robots. You can use other phrases as well. If you are not satisfied with what you get then visit popular forums online and ask or post any question you may on any topic regarding Forex robot scams. You are sure to meet someone out there who can help you with some good advice on which Forex robot to buy that can really help you make some good money online.

10 tips on how to profiteer your blog

Are you still blogging for fun? Do you still have problems blogging for cash? I have good news for you—it's time you reward your creative effort with some extra cash. Gone are the days when people blog for the fun of it, because blogging is now serious business.

Over the years blogging and blogs have become a great way of generating income on the Internet. I have read about great bloggers that have made seven figures of pure profit from their blogging empire. The truth is that what they are doing to make this kind of money is what you too can do. It’s not rocket science, so if you have been thinking of monetizing your blog then now is the best time to do it.

All blogs that are designed to make money must be designed to make profit. You should consider this steps if you are into out-sourcing most of the jobs on your blog. This will help you to strike that balance between your expenses and your profit and more of what you need to do to monetize your blog.

Things to do to profiteer your blog

1. Go to freelance job sites where you can get a lower bid for your work: this way you don't need to spend too much money and in the end you will break even. Try the lowest bidder, some times people can get so desperate they will bid to the last nickel and dime. Give them few things to do like article submission to blog directories if they are able to do it well then you can outsource more work to them.

2. Monetize your blog with more paid-to-click adverts: you can try Chitika, Adbrite or Bidvertizer they also pay well.

3. Trim down the work force, get in there and get your hands dirty: to make profit some times certain measures must be taken this might include trimming down the work force to a manageable size. Pick out the less stressful work and focus on getting them done.

4. Workout a free traffic method that best suite your business: you have to do this one very carefully and strategize your business on it. If you prefer to go with Article marketing then stick with it don’t waste all your money trying every other method out there that promise to over deliver but give you no result.

5. Get softwares that will help to do your work better: if you are buying any software that promise to help improve your work make sure to do proper research on them before you go out and spend your hard earned money. Go to forums such as Warrior forum and ask questions about the software, ask to know if it can do the work you want to use it for. If you are satisfied with the answers you get then go ahead and purchase it.

6. Do away with older versions of softwares you are using and get new and better upgrades.

7. Sell out some of your blog that are not doing too well so that you can concentrate on the ones that are really performing.

8. Upgrade your website or blog Template to a more robust and attractive one with more features.

9. Give out more free offers to attract more people to your list: organize contest and give away gadgets like IPod touch or iPhone and use it to get more people to signup to your list.

10. Conduct interview with big names in the industry and get them to comment on your blog. This will give people the feeling that you are a very important person and they can gain a lot from you when they constantly visit your blog.

How to and where to get the best freelance jobs online in 2010 and beyond

First of all let me start with the how to. To venture any where online looking for job you must be sure you to have all the basic requirements on ground before you start. These things might be simple things like email or phone number or even PayPal account. It is very important you do this if you ever want to get a job, get paid and receive your money where ever you are in the world.

I have written here some easy steps that can help you get started even if you are a newbie. If you are new to freelancing online then take care to read what I have explained below. These things you must have in place before you begin your search.

E-mail address for sending and receiving mails

You need to have an email address, having two may be better. At least have one on Gmail (Google Gmail) and have the other on Yahoo (Yahoo Mail). They are all free to set up or signup with. But if you have any problem with doing this because some how your internet skill is very low then I will advice you to go to any cafe around you and ask the operator there to help you. Though, most will ask you for a small fee for doing that.

Open a PAYPAL account

PayPal is a payment solution, it is an account you can have online for receiving and paying money to people online and it is the most acceptable and fastest way of collecting money for work done online. Also it is free to signup with them. It is important you note also that some of these networks can also pay through check (cheque). An alternative to PayPal is AlertPay. PayPal is the most acceptable solution but they still have some issues and one of such is that they don't accept people in some countries to use their services. Nigeria is one of such countries. The way to find out if your country is not one of the blacklisted countries is to go to their site at www.paypal.com and check the list of blacklisted countries. Now if you have done that and it so happened that your country falls in the blacklisted country. Then do this: contact me via my e-mail I can help you. Feel free to contact me if you live in one of such countries and you need Paypal really badly. My email is: danlord4u-at-yahoo.com (replace at with @ when mailing me).

Have a phone line

Though this is optional for a starter, nevertheless it is a very vital asset if you want to work as a professional online freelancer. It makes it a lot easier for your clients to contact you when they need a new job done quickly.

The skill and zeal to work

By skill I mean both communication skill and experience in the kind of work or works you are comfortable doing. You need to be able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

If you have all these and a lots more or lets say you have No. 1 and No.4 you are okay to get started. Now that you want to get started making money online as a freelancer the next thing to do is to sign-up to the list of freelance job/service provider websites below. Try as much as possible to read all their policies, their rules and regulations—their dos and don’ts. Once you understand them well then go ahead to sign up with them. Some of them will require you to undergo a short test before you are allowed to start bidding for jobs on their network. Once you are acquainted with all that then go ahead and start bidding.

Below is a list of the best freelance job sites online. These are places where you can do jobs online and get paid. The list is short but if you want more then go to search engines like Google, yahoo, Ask, MSN and type in the keyword: freelance jobs, then click search. You will get so many of them. While some of the freelance job providers will ask you to pay a small fee to upgrade your account to be able to have full access to all their jobs most won’t ask you to pay before signing up.
